Genesis, ambition, governance and timeline of an event built to last.
In the face of dwindling wild fishery resources and the rapid growth in global demand for aquatic proteins, aquaculture is emerging as a sustainable, competitive and sovereign solution. SIAq was born from this observation. It responds to an urgent need: to unite stakeholders, share innovations and accelerate investments to build a high-performing and inclusive African aquaculture.

Global demand for aquatic proteins is growing rapidly, while natural resources are reaching their limits.

Africa has immense aquaculture potential, abundant natural resources and a young population capable of driving the future of the sector.

Dakar benefits from a strategic position in West Africa, international openness and a strong determination to become a regional hub for aquaculture innovation.

Aquaculture represents a concrete response to the challenges of food security, job creation and the preservation of marine ecosystems.
Making SIAq the reference platform where producers, scientists, investors, equipment suppliers and public decision-makers meet to build a sustainable and competitive African aquaculture.
SIAq 2026 is co-organised by two institutions committed to sustainable, innovative and inclusive aquaculture in Africa.

A leading pan-African private player, Atlantic Mariculture develops sustainable and innovative aquaculture projects, from production to processing and marketing. The company works to structure competitive and value-creating sectors in Africa.

A national public body under the authority of the Senegalese State, the ANA drives the national aquaculture development strategy and promotes sustainable management of aquatic resources in the service of food security and employment.
SIAq is based on transparent and inclusive governance to ensure scientific excellence, the quality of the event and its lasting impact.
Led by Atlantic Mariculture and the National Aquaculture Agency of Senegal, the organising committee ensures the operational coordination and success of the show.
Composed of international experts, it defines the scientific directions, validates the programme and guarantees the quality of the content and exchanges.
Bringing together leading personalities, it provides institutional support and contributes to the international influence of SIAq.
SIAq is part of a long-term dynamic to make Dakar the pan-African reference meeting point for aquaculture.
SIAq will be held every year in October in Dakar, to support the growth and structuring of aquaculture in Africa.
